Post overview

Our family made our own Coraline tunnel for a photo! 😳💜 For this Coraline inspired photo, we sewed 10 yards of iridescent fabric into an extra large play tunnel. Then we carved a small door into a foam wall and covered it in wallpaper. Next, we set it all up outside and surrounded the tunnel with 11 LED stick lights. Eloise got into character and headed down the tunnel, while Nick handled the lighting and I captured the moment. We took this photo a couple months ago, before Vermont was covered in snow 😅💜 . . . . . #Coraline #Beldam #behindthescenes #photomagic #photography #photoshoot #creative_portraits #creative #magical #creativephotography #photographyart #photographytricks #magicofchildhood #momsofinstagram

Our family made a room float for a photo! 🪼💙#CanonPartner

Weeks of planning and building came down to this one moment 😳. For this photo, we wanted to capture a floating, underwater dream world in-camera, so we got to work! We decided to make jellyfish props that looked real on camera, so we did a bunch of research and brainstorming. We ended up doing a combination of hot glue, fiber optic lights, LED strips lights, and ribbon. It’s always the things you least expect that take the longest. In this case, it was searching for the perfect jellyfish shaped bowl. Once we found that, we spent nearly a week making and remaking the jellies until we got it right 😅. Once the set was finished, we had one chance to capture it because we were leaving on a two week trip the next day. Down to the wire! Eloise rested on the platform while Emma steered the bubbles, Oliver moved the jellyfish, Nick handled the leaf blower, and I captured it all with my @canonusa EOS R5 Mark II and RF24mm F1.4 L VCM Lens. This is such a powerful duo! I can switch back and forth between videos and photos seamlessly during photoshoots now. This is so helpful when I am capturing behind the scenes as well as the final photo! I can’t believe how well Canon’s new RF L Series Hybrid lenses can capture handheld video. I never use a gimbal anymore! 📸: f/2.5, 1/250 seconds, 1600 ISO #CanonCreator

Just a couple of flower fairies adventuring through their very own magical forest 🥰🧚 we made these flower umbrellas in early April (it took over a week) and then waited patiently for the forest in our backyard to bloom 🌸 #CanonPartner

For this photo, we made the flower umbrellas from scratch using clear umbrellas as a base. This process took way longer than expected 😅 After our first failed attempt using felt, Nick came up with the idea to try to heat foam with our heat gun and shape them into petals. It was genius and worked so well! No matter how much we try to make our magic umbrellas light enough, they are always too heavy for Eloise 😂 so Nick held it up for her, while Emma handled the lighting, I captured the moment, and the little ones pretended to be fairies. It’s a dream come true to have our own little slice of forest here at our home here in Vermont and we are forever grateful for it 🥹. We used practical effects like lights, costumes, our glowing flower umbrellas, and my new @canonusa EOS R8 to bring this moment to life! It handles low light incredibly well. I’m always impressed by the photos the #EOSR8 captures in dark conditions! It’s a gem of a camera! 📸: Canon EOS R8 and RF50mm F1.2 L lens: f/1.2, 1/400 sec, and 1250 ISO #CanonCreator
